Who?
SOS Youth Volunteers
SOS serves all middle and high school students in Georgetown County. Young people CHOOSE the events they would like to participate in and how often they volunteer. Youth Volunteer Meetings are help monthly to make members aware of events in the upcoming months. The only rule SOS has about our events is:
"If you sign up, you show up!"
SOS Youth Council
The SOS Youth Council is comprised of representatives from each of the Georgetown County high school and middle schools as well as private schools. Youth Council members volunteer for their position and are expected to be dedicated to their commitment for one complete year. Youth Council responsibilities include recruiting volunteers for events, recruiting and training new members and being an example to others.

SOS Teacher Advisors
SOS is very fortunate to have Teacher Advisors at each of the Georgetown County high school and middle schools as well as private schools. Teacher Advisors help host in-school meetings, help Youth Council Representatives spread the word about SOS, and serve as the SOS contact person for their school.

SOS Adult Sponsors
Adult Sponsors are asked to participate in developing and implementing service projects with youth as well as to participate in training workshops with the SOS staff and the Youth Council. The service period is for the duration of the project. Projects usually take place on Saturdays.
Besides the wealth of experience and guidance adults can provide, bringing the generations together provides more opportunity for change in the community.
Board of Directors
The SOS Board of Directors is composed of individuals from across the community representing the business, social, religious and educational spectrum. The Board provides support and advice as role models and raises interest and resources for SOS. Board members act as advisors, mentors and supporters.
The Board of Directors supports the youth and the SOS staff as they develop, create and implement service projects. The Board meets monthly. Take a look at the list of
Current Directors - you'll probably find someone you know! Check with one of them to see what you can do to help out.
