Risk Game
- Students simulate three years of high school.
- At the end of each round (year) RISK cards are handed to the students who engaged in risky behavior.
- The risk cards represent consequences of the risky behavior the character engaged in.
- The game shows that abstinence is the best choice with no consequences.
In the RISK game, students simulate three years of high school. The students are assigned a character to represent, and as the story is being told the student with the character’s name stands while their character is being talked about - they don’t act out anything.
At the end of each round (year) RISK cards are handed to the students who engaged in risky behavior. The risk cards represent consequences of the risky behavior the character engaged in. Strings also connect person to person involved in the risky behavior. In the activity the students see that some characters attended the same party or event and didn’t engage in risky behavior and that characters had relationships that did not engage in risky behavior.
At the end of the game, everyone who has engaged in a risky behavior is connected and the characters who did not engage in any risky behavior can walk away from the circle consequence free. Overall the game shows that abstinence is the best choice with no consequences.
